Practice Information
This organisation provides specialised trauma-informed mental health services for children under 14 years of age across the Mackay, Whitsunday and Isaac regions who have experienced, or are at risk of experiencing, physical abuse, assault, family violence and self-harm.
The team is recognised for its professionalism, compassion and collaborative approach, delivering high-quality support to clients and colleagues alike.
Position Description
This position is responsible for delivering counselling services through face-to-face, telephone and online sessions. The successful candidate will conduct psychological and other assessments, maintain comprehensive case notes, prepare skilled reports and participate in regular supervision.
The role also includes providing outreach services and undertaking fortnightly overnight travel to the Isaac and Whitsunday regions. Clinicians are expected to maintain high professional standards and contribute to the delivery of safe, effective and client-centred care.
Position Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in psychology, social work or counselling
- Minimum two years' experience providing counselling services,
preferably within trauma-related settings
- Experience providing counselling to boys up to 16 years of age will be highly regarded
- Understanding of child protection legislation and the impacts of trauma on individuals, families and communities
- Registration, eligibility for registration and/or membership with a relevant professional body
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Understanding of socially and culturally inclusive service delivery practices
- Ability to work within a mandatory reporting framework
- Current Blue Card or willingness to obtain one
- National Police Certificate or willingness to obtain one
- Ability to undertake fortnightly overnight outreach travel
- Demonstrated alignment with organisational values including integrity, respect, energy, empathy and bravery
