Western District Health Service is seeking a passionate and motivated Chef / Trade Cook to join our Catering Team at Casterton Memorial Hospital.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified Chef or Trade Cook who enjoys preparing nutritious, high-quality meals and takes pride in creating positive dining experiences.
Working as part of a supportive team, you will prepare meals for acute patients, residential aged care residents, Meals on Wheels clients, staff and visitors. Your work will directly contribute to the wellbeing, recovery and quality of life of the people we care for.

What You'll Be Doing
Food Preparation & Production
Prepare and cook nutritious, high-quality meals for patients, residents and community clients while maintaining excellent presentation and food quality standards.
Menu & Dietary Compliance
Prepare meals in accordance with dietary requirements, texture modification standards, food safety guidelines and nutritional requirements.
Food Safety & Quality
Maintain high standards of food hygiene, food safety and kitchen cleanliness while supporting compliance with food safety legislation and organisational procedures.
Catering & Hospitality Services
Assist with catering requirements, special functions and service delivery across a variety of healthcare and community settings.
Team Collaboration
Work closely with Catering Assistants, Food Service Assistants and the broader healthcare team to ensure high-quality service delivery and positive customer experiences.
What You Bring
- Trade qualification as a Chef or Trade Cook
- Previous experience in commercial food preparation and production
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene principles
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Commitment to providing high-quality meals and service
- Ability to work flexibly across a rotating roster
- Current Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Rights to work in Australia
