- Unique opportunity to join and help shape a growing Northern Territory practice, supported by an established client base and national platform
- Established dispute work with a strong flow of commercial, government and institutional work.
- Join a well-established litigation team supported by a national network of over 270 Partners.
About us
HWLE is not your typical law firm. Our rapid rise to become the largest legal partnership in Australia shows that in our case, the differences are real. We deliver first class, top tier legal advice to our government and commercial clients in every state and territory across Australia. Firm wide, we have over 270 Partners and 1900 people.
The opportunity
We have an opportunity for a Litigation Partner in our highly regarded Darwin office. This role offers exposure to a diverse disputes practice acting for government agencies, major institutions, ASX-listed companies, insurers, private enterprises and high net worth individuals across a broad range of contentious matters.
Working closely with experienced litigation practitioners locally and across our national network, you will play a key role in advising clients on complex and high-profile disputes. Supported by a strong existing client base and national sector expertise, you will lead a team across a broad mix of commercial, regulatory, government and insurance-related matters while contributing to the continued growth of our Northern Territory practice.
This is an exceptional opportunity for an established Partner, Special Counsel or senior practitioner ready to step into partnership, particularly for those seeking a lifestyle change without compromising on the quality or scale of work.
Darwin offers a unique combination of sophisticated legal work, close client relationships and an enviable lifestyle. With a growing economy, strong government presence and proximity to Asia-Pacific markets, it provides opportunities that are difficult to replicate in larger metropolitan centres.
You might be busy leading
- Commercial litigation and dispute resolution
- Government, regulatory and administrative law matters
- Construction, infrastructure and project disputes
- Banking, finance and insolvency disputes
- Insurance, institutional liability and negligence claims
- Employment and workplace disputes
- Native title, land and resource-related matters
To succeed in this role, ideally you'll have
- Demonstrated leadership capability and experience.
- Experience managing matters and clients (a client base who may follow you - but our referral model is supportive of a Partner current to market) across a range of contentious issues.
- A commercial mindset and commitment to delivering exceptional client outcomes.
- The ability to work autonomously while contributing to a collaborative Partnership.
- Exposure to the Northern Territory jurisdiction would be advantageous, but is not essential.
