We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious School Bus Driver to join our team at Ohana College, Meadowbrook . You will be responsible for safely transporting students to and from the College, maintaining the school bus and providing a friendly, professional and supportive service to students and their families.
This is a part-time, term-time position working Monday to Friday, with morning shifts from 6:30 am to 8:30 am and afternoon shifts from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. The morning shift includes two bus runs, with one run in the afternoon.

Job Description
Reporting to the School Manager,
you will play an important role in ensuring students can travel safely and reliably to and from Ohana College. You will maintain a safe and orderly environment on the bus, ensure the vehicle remains clean and in good working condition, and communicate effectively with students, parents and College staff.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Student Transport: Safely operate the school bus and transport students to and from the College according to scheduled routes and times.
- Vehicle Safety: Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections, identify any safety or maintenance issues and report concerns promptly to the relevant management personnel.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Maintain a clean, tidy and presentable bus and ensure the vehicle is kept in good working condition.
- Student Wellbeing: Provide a friendly, respectful and supportive environment for students, promoting their safety and wellbeing throughout each journey.
- Student Expectations: Ensure students follow the College's expectations for school bus travel and report any non-compliance to College management.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with students, parents and College staff regarding transport arrangements, concerns or incidents.
- Additional Support: Assist students with disabilities to ensure their safe and comfortable transportation.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of vehicle mileage and fuel consumption.
- Emergency Response: Respond calmly and effectively to emergencies or unexpected situations, following established procedures.
- Compliance: Follow all relevant traffic laws,
road safety requirements and school bus operating procedures.
- Professional Development: Participate in required training relating to school bus safety and operation.
Desired Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will be a dependable and punctual driver who takes pride in maintaining high safety standards. You will have a genuine commitment to student safety and wellbeing, with the ability to communicate effectively and build positive relationships with young people, families and staff.
Requirements:
- Licences and Authorisations: Current Queensland Medium Rigid (MR) driver licence or higher, together with a current Queensland Driver Authorisation.
- Blue Card: Current and valid Queensland Paid Working with Children Blue Card.
- Driving Experience: Previous experience as a bus driver or in a similar transport role. Experience within a school environment or transporting young people will be highly regarded.
- Driving Record: A solid driving record and demonstrated commitment to safe driving practices and compliance with traffic laws.
- Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with students, parents and staff.
- Reliability: Demonstrated dependability, punctuality and the ability to follow scheduled routes and times.
- Student Safety: A genuine commitment to protecting the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to remain calm, exercise sound judgement and respond appropriately to unexpected situations.
- Screening Requirements: Ability to meet the organisation's criminal history screening requirements.
Employment Type: Part-time, term time only
