The IT Network and Security Specialist is responsible for administering, securing and continuously improving the organisation’s network, infrastructure and security environment. This role ensures the integrity and availability of systems and data by maintaining secure network operations, monitoring security controls, responding to incidents and supporting ongoing technology risk reduction initiatives.

The role requires a hands-on technical specialist who can manage day-to-day network and security operations.

About the Role

The IT Network and Security Specialist is responsible for administering, securing and continuously improving the organisation’s network, infrastructure and security environment. This role ensures the integrity and availability of systems and data by maintaining secure network operations, monitoring security controls, responding to incidents and supporting ongoing technology risk reduction initiatives.

The role requires a hands-on technical specialist who can manage day-to-day network and security operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Administer, support and optimise network infrastructure, including firewalls, routers, switches, wireless networks, VPNs, remote access services and related security platforms.

- Monitor network performance, availability and security events, escalating and resolving incidents in line with agreed service levels and incident response procedures.

- Implement and maintain security controls across network and infrastructure environments, including firewall rules, intrusion detection and prevention systems, endpoint controls, secure configuration baselines and access controls.

- Conduct vulnerability management activities, including scanning, risk assessment,



remediation tracking and coordination with internal teams and external providers.

- Assist with security incident investigation, containment, recovery and post-incident review, ensuring lessons learned are captured and improvements are implemented.

- Maintain network and security documentation, including architecture diagrams, configuration records, asset inventories, operational procedures, risk registers and audit evidence.

- Coordinate with Head Office and third-party technology and security activities, including vendor assessments, service reviews, penetration testing, security reviews and remediation follow-up.

- Support Business Continuity Plan and Disaster Recovery planning, testing and remediation activities for critical network, infrastructure and security services.

- Partner with Technology, Risk, Compliance and business stakeholders to ensure network and security practices align with the organisation’s policies and regulatory expectations

Skills & Experience

- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Network Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

- Relevant industry certifications are highly regarded, such as CCNA, CCNP, Fortinet NSE, Palo Alto, Microsoft security certifications, CompTIA Security+, CISSP, CISM, GIAC or equivalent.

What You'll Bring

- Strong hands-on experience in network administration,



network security or infrastructure security roles.

- Practical knowledge of firewalls, VPNs, routing, switching, wireless networking, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP and secure network design principles.

- Experience administering security technologies such as endpoint protection, SIEM, vulnerability management tools, IDS/IPS, web filtering, email security, identity and access management, or cloud security controls.

- Understanding of cybersecurity frameworks, risk management practices and control environments.

- Ability to troubleshoot complex network, infrastructure and security issues across hybrid environments.

- Experience supporting audits, control testing, penetration testing, disaster recovery testing and third-party security assessments.

- Strong documentation, reporting and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical risks and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

- Well-developed analytical, problem-solving and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, incidents and projects to deadlines.

- Collaborative working style with the ability to build effective relationships across Technology, Risk, Compliance, vendors and business teams.
