This is a temporary, 12 months maternity leave replacement position and is open to Australia residents or those already with working rights.
This role offers the opportunity to combine environmental expertise, fieldwork, community engagement and regulatory decision-making to help protect the unique natural values of the Blue Mountains. The Weeds Compliance Officer undertakes inspections across diverse land tenures, works collaboratively with landholders, public authorities, contractors and internal teams, and supports enforcement under the NSW Biosecurity Act 2015 where required. The role contributes to identifying and responding to emerging weed threats, improving weed management practices, maintaining spatial and operational records, shaping priority inspection programs, and providing practical advice to residents and stakeholders to support effective,
long-term biosecurity outcomes across the Blue Mountains region.
Applicants must hold a Certificate III in Conservation and Land Management (or similar), a Class C license, and AQF 3/4 chemical accreditation. Essential skills include Blue Mountains weed identification and weed management experience. Candidates must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills for daily public interaction, organizational expertise, solid computer skills and a commitment to WHS.
Remuneration: base salary commencing at $79,483 gross per annum
