Tandy Group is seeking an experienced and reliable On-Road Truck Mechanic to join our maintenance team in Mackay.
This is a hands-on role responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing a diverse range of heavy vehicles and equipment across our transport operations. The successful applicant will be required to attend to breakdowns and mechanical issues both at our workshops and on-road, helping to keep our fleet operating safely and efficiently.
Our fleet includes truck and dogs, concrete agitators, semi tippers, flat tops, and crane trucks
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out scheduled servicing, inspections and preventative maintenance
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults and breakdowns
- Attend to on-road breakdowns and carry out repairs where possible
- Complete mechanical repairs to heavy vehicles, trailers and associated equipment
- Inspect vehicles to identify mechanical and safety issues
- Carry out fault finding and diagnostics
- Complete repairs in a safe, efficient and timely manner
- Maintain accurate service and repair records
- Work with drivers and management to identify and resolve vehicle issuesEnsure all work is completed in accordance with relevant safety requirements and manufacturer specifications
- Maintain a clean and organised work area
- Assist with general fleet maintenance as required
About You
The successful applicant will have:
- Relevant trade qualification as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic / Diesel Fitter
- Experience working on heavy vehicles and trucks
- Solid mechanical diagnostic and fault-finding skills
- Experience with on-road breakdowns and mobile repairs
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
- A strong commitment to workplace health and safety
- Heavy vehicle licence (HR or higher) would be highly regarded
- Ability to work flexible hours and respond to breakdowns when required
