Location – Parramatta - (T his role operates under a hybrid working model, with a requirement to maintain a minimum 50% workplace presence each month)
Employment type – Temporary full-time role for 9 months with the possibility of an extension
Salary - $116,981.00 - $129,492.00 pa, plus superannuation and leave loading
Your role
As an Internal Auditor with the Department of Communities and Justice, you will contribute to the approved Internal audit delivery program that strengthens governance, risk management and internal controls across a large and diverse NSW Government department.
This is a valuable opportunity to work on varied and meaningful audits, engage with senior stakeholders, and provide practical insights that support effective public services and better outcomes for communities across NSW
What you’ll do
You will contribute to the delivery of internal audit engagements across a range of risk areas such as Information Security, Cyber, Financial Management, Health and Safety or Systems.
Your responsibilities will include conducting audit testing and analysis, reviewing and evaluating evidence, documenting audit outcomes, and preparing high-quality reports and briefing notes.
The role requires effective engagement with stakeholders across the Department, monitoring the implementation of audit recommendations, and supporting reporting to senior management and the Audit and Risk Committee.
You will join the Internal Audit team within the Internal Audit and Fraud and Corruption Control Branch. The team provides independent assurance, advice and insights to senior leaders and the Audit and Risk Committee. You will work in a professional,
collaborative and supportive setting that values integrity, objectivity, accountability, continuous learning and constructive stakeholder relationships. The role reports to the Manager Internal Audit and works across different divisions and business areas within the Department.
What we’re looking for
In addition to the essential requirements outlined in the role description, the ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- At least 2 years' experience in internal audit or a related assurance role.
- Sound understanding of audit, risk and internal control principles.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear reports and briefings.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
Relevant tertiary or professional qualifications in audit, accounting, risk or assurance (e.g. CIA, CA, CPA, CISA) are desirable. Equivalent experience and a commitment to ongoing professional development will also be considered.
