Laser Ablation / Cleaning Technician - In office Operations
ALCAT is Australia's leading independant specialist in high-tech laser ablation and surface remediation. We replace traditional, chemical washing and abrasive blasting with clean, state-of-the-art laser technology. Our mobile crews deliver specialised surface preparation across infrastructure, government, defence, insurance and power-generation projects nationwide. We are seeking hands-on, safety-focused Laser Technicians to join our field operations team based out of Greater Sydney, with travel across the East Coast of Australia. No prior laser experience is needed—we provide complete, comprehensive training!
Key responsibilities
Set up, operate, and pack down certified industrial laser ablation and extraction systems on client sites
Drive ALCAT work vehicles safely to and from local and interstate project locations
Carry out routine equipment maintenance, basic cleaning, and fault identification
Actively participate in pre-start safety briefings, toolbox talks, and strictly adhere to laser safety procedures
Complete simple job reports and documentation accurately and on time
Represent ALCAT professionally on site when collaborating with client representatives
About you
Greater Sydney based
Valid Australian Driver's Licence (Manual preferred)
White Card required (ALCAT can assist you in obtaining this)
Willingness to travel interstate for projects lasting anywhere from 1 week to 1 month
Strong safety focus, respect for high-value machinery, ability to follow procedures, and a strong willingness to learn
General physical fitness for hands-on site duties (minimal heavy lifting required)
Desirable: Working at Heights and EWP
Desirable: Background in trades, technical work, industrial operations, or the Australian Defence Force (ADF)
Pay starting at $50.00 per hour (flat rate inclusive of casual loading) + 12% superannuation with increase for the correct applicant
Transition to full time role for the correct applicant
All Travel & Expenses Paid: Fully paid travel time in work vehicles, plus travel allowances, accommodation, and daily meal allowances when working away
