The Clinical Nurse Consultant provides expert clinical advice to patients/clients, carers and other health care professionals with complex healthcare needs within Wollongong Hospital’s cardiology service. The Clinical Nurse Consultant is a clinical expert who, through leadership, facilitates excellence in research based clinical practice, education, research and professional leadership. The Clinical Nurse Consult will use this knowledge to provide leadership for Quality Improvement project to align inpatient care. The Clinical Nurse Consultant models the CORE (Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment) values of the organisation.

Provides clinical consultancy, education and support to the cardiology inpatient unit, coronary care unit, cardiac diagnostics centre, as well as the rest of the hospital - ensuring there are up to date evidenced based policies and procedures to support nursing practice.

Wollongong Hospital is the Illawarra Shoalhaven’s major referral and teaching hospital and has a bed-base count of more than 500. The campus,



which incorporates the Illawarra Regional Cancer Care Centre, provides a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services.

Wollongong is located an hour’s drive south of Sydney on a narrow coastal strip bordered by the Royal National Park to the north, Lake Illawarra to the south, the Tasman Sea to the east and the Illawarra Escarpment to the west. - Current AHPRA Registration
- Current NSW Driver’s license
- Minimum five years full time equivalent post registration experience and in addition who has approved post registration nursing qualification relevant to Cardiology.

This is a temporary parental leave relief position until 28 November 2027 with the possibility of an extension at same or reduced hours.
