Job and Tasks

City West Electrical is seeking a 3rd & 4th Year Apprentice or Newly Qualified Electrician to join our growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to develop their skills, gain practical experience, and work on a variety of electrical services, in the government and commercial sectors. This is a full‑time position based in Tullamarine, where you will work alongside experienced electricians and contribute to the delivery of high‑quality electrical services.

We currently have a vacancy for a fit, honest, reliable, full‑time, 3rd or 4th Year Apprentice or Newly Qualified Electrician to join our team. You will carry out all tasks associated with commercial maintenance in modern buildings, older properties and classified buildings, you will travel across Melbourne, working with different A Grade Electricians on varying sites.

The successful applicant will gain experience by assisting in various tasks and duties, including but not limited to:

- Exit and Emergency testing and repairs
- RCD Testing
- Servicing/repair work
- Network cabling – Cat 6
- AC installations
- Installation of switchboards
- Fault finding




- Maintenance shutdowns (Afterhours)
- Ordering materials

In addition to the above, you will be expected to adhere to strict workplace health and safety practices and company policies.

Skills and requirements

The successful applicant will be a person that possesses the following skills and attributes:

- Be well presented.
- Be a team‑player with a positive and proactive approach to all tasks.
- Be highly organised with the ability to work to timelines and to manage multiple and competing priorities
- Standard working hours (7:00am – 3:30pm) Regular Overtime available
- Must be adaptable to work overtime, including afterhours shutdown works, and afterhours call‑outs when required.
- Penalty rates paid for all overtime.
- Strong attention to detail
- Live locally

Apprentices are required to attend a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), to complete off the job training and study a Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electricians.

Ideally hold the following:

- Completed or completing a Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electricians.
- Current Victorian Driving Licence
- Red or White Card
- Current Police Check
- Current Working with Children Check
- EWP

Note: Police Check and WWCC are not required to apply, however successful applicants must obtain both before commencing work (these cost will be reimbursed).
