Torus Risk
Melbourne
Torus Risk is a Melbourne-based security and risk advisory firm. We provide close protection, security management and intelligence services to private clients and organisations. Our team comes from law enforcement and military, and we run our work the way we were trained to: discreetly, carefully, and with the client always at the centre.
The role
We're looking for an experienced casual Intelligence Analyst to support our protective intelligence program. You'll work on open-source and investigative intelligence that feeds directly into clients' physical security programs. It's meaningful work where valuable analysis keeps people safe.
What you'll do
- Run ongoing OSINT and threat monitoring across media, social platforms, the dark web and digital ecosystems
- Identify and assess emerging risks to clients: physical, reputational and digital
- Produce a structured monthly intelligence brief for executive readers
- Write threat assessments, travel risk assessments, digital vulnerability reports and due diligence reports
- Conduct discreet investigations and background checks into individuals, entities and vendors
- Build network and relationship maps where they're needed
- Support incident response by investigating leaks, breaches or security incidents
- Collect and organise information so it can be used for legal or strategic purposes
What we're looking for
Hands-on experience with OSINT software, which you will use every shift.
A background in protecting people. For example: protective intelligence, close or executive protection, police or government protective security, VIP/dignitary protection, fixated-person or threat assessment work, or a security or intelligence role supporting at-risk people
Strong OSINT tradecraft, including managed attribution and good operational security
Clear, concise writing for executive and non-specialist readers
Absolute discretion, and comfort working under strict confidentiality
A sound understanding of the legal and ethical limits on collection in Australia, including the Privacy Act
Hold, or be eligible to obtain, a Victorian Private Security Individual Operator Licence (Investigator), or an equivalent licence capable of mutual recognition
Experience in law enforcement, defence or national security intelligence
Familiarity with dark web sources and person/corporate records platforms
A current or previous Australian Government security clearance
Formal intelligence training or qualifications (e.g. Cert IV/Diploma in Government Investigations, or intelligence analysis courses)
What's on offer
- A competitive casual hourly rate
- Melbourne CBD based, with flexible work arrangements
- Work with a tight-knit team that values professionalism and judgement
- Potential for more hours as work increases
