The successful applicant will deliver engaging and differentiated learning programs for Kindergarten to Year 3, create a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment, and build positive relationships with students, families, and community members. The role is based in the remote Aboriginal community of Yakanarra, approximately 60 km south-west of Fitzroy Crossing in the Kimberley region of Western Australia, where the school provides a supportive and culturally responsive learning environment.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and differentiated learning programs for Kindergarten to Year 3
- Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment
- Build positive relationships with students, families, and community members
- Support student attendance, engagement, and wellbeing
- Work collaboratively with school staff and leadership to improve student outcomes
- Integrate culturally responsive teaching practices into daily learning programs
About you
- Bachelor of Education or equivalent teaching qualifications
- Current Teacher Registration with TRBWA (or eligibility to obtain registration)
- Demonstrated experience teaching Kindergarten to Year 3 Primary students
- Strong classroom management and organisation skills
- Ability to work independently and adapt to a remote community environment
- Current WA Working with Children Check
- Experience in remote, rural, Aboriginal, or culturally diverse school settings (desirable)
- Driver's Licence
- Knowledge of Inclusive Teaching and evidence-based literacy and numeracy programs (desirable)
- Understanding of trauma-informed and culturally responsive educational practices (desirable)
