About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Teacher of French to join our Middle and Senior School on an ongoing part-time basis (0.8 FTE)
The successful candidate will inspire and engage students in the learning of French across Years 7–12, fostering a positive and inclusive learning workplace that encourages curiosity, confidence and a passion for languages.
Working collaboratively within a dedicated Languages team, you will contribute to the development and delivery of engaging curriculum programs, supporting students to achieve their full potential. The role will also involve contributing to the School’s pastoral care program, including supporting a group of students as a tutor.
This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate educator who values collaboration, innovative teaching practices and building meaningful relationships with students.
Key Focus Areas
- Plan, deliver and assess engaging French language programs for students across Years 7–12.
- Inspire and motivate students to develop their language skills, cultural awareness and appreciation of French.
- Develop and implement curriculum programs aligned with the Australian Curriculum, Tasmanian Certificate of Education (TCE), International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) and relevant syllabus requirements.
- Use contemporary teaching methodologies and differentiated learning strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Monitor, assess and report on student progress,
providing constructive feedback to support learning and achievement.
- Collaborate with colleagues within the Languages team to develop curriculum, participate in moderation and share best practice.
- Contribute to the School’s pastoral care program, including undertaking a tutor role to support student wellbeing and development.
- Build positive and respectful relationships with students, families and colleagues.
- Participate in professional learning, co-curricular activities, meetings and other school activities.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment in line with child safeguarding requirements and school policies.
Essential Qualifications & Requirements
- A recognised teaching qualification with the relevant registration to teach in Tasmania.
- Demonstrated experience or the ability to teach French across Years 7–12.
- Strong knowledge of contemporary language teaching methodologies, curriculum development and student assessment.
- Ability to create engaging, inclusive and differentiated learning experiences that cater to a range of student abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues and families.
- A commitment to student wellbeing, pastoral care and child safeguarding.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute positively to a professional learning environment.
- A commitment to ongoing professional development and reflective teaching practice.
- A current Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People card.
