About the role
As our Payroll Officer, you'll manage end-to-end payroll and be a trusted point of contact for employees, managers, Finance and People & Culture.
Key responsibilities
- Managing end-to-end payroll processing accurately and within required deadlines
- Reviewing timesheets, leave, allowances, overtime and deductions
- Processing new starters, employee changes, terminations and final pays
- Managing payroll reconciliations and resolving discrepancies
- Ensuring compliance with Australian payroll legislation, awards, employment agreements, PAYG, payroll tax, superannuation and STP requirements
- Preparing payroll journals and supporting month-end reconciliations
- Maintaining accurate employee and payroll records
- Responding to employee and manager payroll queries
- Preparing payroll reporting, including leave balances, headcount, superannuation and payroll tax
- Supporting audits, budgeting and forecasting requirements
About you
- 5+ years' payroll processing experience
- Solid knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and compliance requirements
- Experience interpreting awards, employment agreements and contracts
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Intermediate Excel skills
- Excellent organisation and time-management skills
- Confidence communicating with employees and managers at all levels
- Sound judgement when dealing with confidential information
- A practical, solutions-focused approach to problems
- A mindset of continuous improvement
