About the Role

As a Mental Health Clinician - Child & Youth (qualified), you’ll work within a shared-care model alongside Child, Youth and Family Practitioners. The role provides clinical support including clinical assessments, evidence-based clinical interventions, trauma informed care, clinical reviews and intensive case management to young people (7-17) who have severe and complex mental health needs (with or without a diagnosed mental illness), and with varying complex psychosocial needs impacting overall wellbeing and day to day functioning. Your professional approach will support the holistic needs of the young person and their family, including mental health, psychological, social, emotional and the physical wellbeing of the individual.

This is a full-time role working from our Jimboomba location. You will provide outreach support in client homes and schools within the Logan/Beaudesert region, with all work-related travel reimbursed.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will be a qualified professional with a minimum of two years’ work experience using case management approaches to support in the care planning, review and follow up coordination for program participants.

You will work collaboratively with caregivers,



stakeholders and team members to provide mental health clinical care and coordination alongside psychosocial supports which contribute to the care planning and case management strategies which support the step up and step down process to access the most appropriate services.

Essential responsibilities will include:

- Being responsible for conducting and reviewing developmentally appropriate, comprehensive clinical mental health assessments, including mental state assessments, clinical risk assessments and relevant clinical outcome measures, and developing and reviewing clinical formulations, care plans and risk management plans

- Responsibility for the provision of evidence-based, developmentally appropriate, child centred, trauma informed, culturally safe, responsive and recovery-oriented care

- Ensuring risk management and safety plans identify and provide interventions in response to clinical and psychosocial risks associated with young people’s safety, including, but not limited to, suicide, self-harm, harm to or from others, recent or adverse childhood trauma, family and domestic violence and child protection concerns

- Being responsible for case management of allocated clients and their families, including assessment, care planning, coordination of supports, advocacy, referral, review and transition planning

- Advocating for the children or young person’s needs and support their participation in decisions, whilst remaining inclusive of family, caregivers, other family representatives

- Collaborating with relevant service providers where children and young people have co-occurring mental health, substance use, developmental, disability, behavioural or psychosocial needs

- Contributing to, and facilitating team learning and career development by sharing relevant clinical and technical expertise





- Ensuring quality standards are adhered to and that opportunities to improve or streamline systems and processes are raised appropriately

- Ensuring timely reporting in line risk, lawful reporting and within program time frames and guidelines

Essential Qualifications:

- Successful completion of a recognised tertiary degree qualification in social work, psychology, nursing or occupational therapy that provides eligibility to practice in the relevant profession

- Where the qualification is in nursing or occupational therapy, a relevant postgraduate or recognised specialist qualification in mental health is also required

- Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA) in psychology, nursing or occupational therapy or full membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
