Working closely with Manbarra Operations Limited, the Manbarra Elders Counsel, Rangers, community and external partners, the Ranger Coordinator will provide day-to-day leadership and operational coordination of the MinggaMingga Rangers Program.
Key responsibilities will include:
Leading, mentoring and developing the Ranger workforce
Coordinating annual and seasonal Caring for Country work programs
Supporting activities across both land and sea Country
Managing Ranger operations, rosters, equipment, fleet, safety and remote logistics
Building individual training, qualification and career pathways for Rangers
Maintaining strong relationships with government agencies, research institutions and environmental partners
Coordinating funding, reporting and contractual requirements
Supporting marine, environmental, cultural heritage and conservation activities
Strengthening opportunities for Traditional Knowledge and technical knowledge to be shared
Building future employment and leadership pathways for Rangers
Ensuring operations reflect the cultural authority and priorities of the Manbarra and Bwgcolman people.
Activities undertaken by the Rangers include coastal and marine monitoring, turtle and dugong monitoring, island biosecurity, weed and feral animal management, fire management, habitat restoration, water quality monitoring, cultural heritage protection, GIS/GPS mapping, drone operations and remote island activities.
Applicants must have, or be able to obtain where applicable:
Current Manual Driver Licence
Current First Aid
Blue Card
Coxswain qualification or willingness to obtain
Ability to work remotely across the Greater Palm Island Group of Isles
Ability to travel by vessel and aircraft.
A Queensland Recreational Marine Licence and experience in marine operations will be highly regarded.
