Job Description
You will:
Plan and implement coherent, well-sequenced teaching and learning programs in Dance.
Ensure that programmes and practices throughout the Teaching Program reflect the 'Brave Hearts Bold Minds' Model for Learning
To teach and explore varied genre of dance including tap, break dance, hip hop and other contemporary styles
Use a range of teaching strategies to deliver quality Danceteaching programs that are responsive to the learning strengths and needs of students
Use continuous assessment feedback to inform teaching practices
Provide opportunities for students to develop understanding of and respect for a range of cultures including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures
Purposely integrate ICT into the teaching and learning programs for Dance and Drama
Provide a Dance program and environment that encourages a love of Danceand of sharing creative interests and genres where students are engaged in making, listening and creating for understanding and enjoyment.
Provide a stimulating, positive and helpful environment that is a showcase for students' dance and drama achievements.
Remain up to date with the core curriculum components of the NESA Dance program.
Interact effectively with the Director of Performing Arts, Campus Heads and Co-ordinators to develop dynamic and interactive Dance and lessons that effectively integrate theoretical and practical components.
Articulate the particular requirements of the Dance Program to value add to set realistic and successful learning tasks.
Maintain professional learning through wide professional reading, attending courses, seminars, workshopsand conferences etc.
Contribute to the delivery of a quality T-6 Music program through the teaching of a 0.8 teaching load.
Desired Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
Qualification in education (Dance and Drama where possible) and be registered with The NSW Institute of Teachers.
Ability to work with and as part of the Creative Arts team of teachers and to teach Dance across all stages of the Preparatory School including 3 year olds to Year 6
Ability to infuse the Christian ethos into teaching practice
