The role involves supervising assigned slaughter floor operations to achieve the daily production targets, chain speed, throughput, yield, product quality, labour and downtime without compromising work health and safety, animal welfare, food safety or regulatory compliance.
Key responsibilities
Deliver daily production, labour, yield and quality and manning targets.
Allocate competent employees to workstations; coordinate rotations, rest breaks and relief; and adjust labour and chain balance to maintain safe, hygienic and productive production flow.
Conduct pre-starts and toolbox talks, communicate the daily production plan, hazards, controls, product specifications and operational priorities, and provide an accurate shift handover.
Maintain safety, animal welfare, food safety and regulatory compliance.
Monitor performance, resolve issues and maintain accurate records.
Work with HR to review and allocate pay-level requirements for the team.
Maintain and utilise an electronic manning system for daily production requirements.
About you
Certificate III in Meat Processing (Slaughtering) and/or Certificate IV in Meat Processing, or equivalent demonstrated competence and experience in an export-registered beef-processing establishment.




Relevant nationally recognised units of competency from the AMP Australian Meat Processing Training Package for the tasks supervised.
Current site-required licences, authorisations and training, including animal-welfare, food-safety, work health and safety and emergency-response requirements applicable to the role.
Ability to meet Oakey Beef Exports site-entry and health requirements, including Q Fever vaccination requirements.
Demonstrated experience supervising a slaughter floor or leading employees in an export beef-processing environment.
Demonstrated understanding of animal-welfare requirements associated with meat processing.
Demonstrated ability to plan labour, allocate competent personnel, balance the chain, coordinate breaks and respond to product holds, breakdowns and production interruptions.
Practical knowledge of Queensland work health and safety duties and controls relevant to meat processing
