Casa **** Italian Ristorante is seeking an
experienced and motivated Cook
to join its kitchen team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, seasoning and cooking food to the restaurant's established standards while maintaining consistency, quality, food safety and efficient kitchen operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Examine ingredients and food products before preparation to ensure freshness, quality and suitability for use.
Prepare and cook a variety of dishes in accordance with established recipes, menu specifications and restaurant standards.
Regulate and monitor the temperatures of ovens, grills, cooktops and other cooking equipment to ensure food is cooked correctly.
Prepare ingredients by measuring, cutting, chopping, mixing and undertaking other food preparation activities required for cooking.
Season food during preparation and cooking to achieve the required flavour, consistency and quality.
Monitor food throughout the cooking process to ensure appropriate cooking times, temperatures, texture and presentation.
Portion cooked food appropriately and arrange dishes on plates, including adding sauces, garnishes and other accompaniments.
Store ingredients, prepared food and cooked products appropriately in temperature-controlled facilities in accordance with food safety requirements.
Prepare meals to accommodate customers' special dietary requirements and approved dietary requests.
Assist with menu planning and estimating food and ingredient requirements according to expected service levels.
Monitor food supplies and advise relevant kitchen personnel when stock needs to be replenished.
Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure meals are prepared efficiently and consistently during service.
Assist with the training and guidance of junior kitchen staff and apprentices where required.




Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of cooking areas, utensils and kitchen equipment and comply with applicable food safety procedures.
Skills and Experience Required
Relevant commercial cookery qualification, preferably
AQF Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or AQF Certificate IV
, or an equivalent qualification.
Alternatively, at least
three years of relevant work experience
may substitute for the formal qualification, consistent with the ANZSCO skill-level framework.
Relevant experience working as a Cook in a restaurant, café or similar commercial kitchen environment.
Sound knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, portioning and presentation.
Ability to operate ovens, grills and other commercial cooking equipment safely and efficiently.
Valuable understanding of food safety, hygiene and temperature-control requirements.
Ability to prepare food according to recipes and accommodate special dietary requirements.
Ability to work effectively as part of a busy kitchen team.
Strong attention to food quality, consistency and presentation.
Ability to work under pressure while maintaining appropriate food preparation and service standards.
Availability to work across the restaurant's operational roster, including evenings, weekends and public holidays where required.
