Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN (PHN) is a not-for-profit organisation that works at a regional level to build healthier communities through a connected, sustainable and responsive primary health care system.
Our role is to support primary care and service providers to ensure the right care is there for those who need it most. Where needed, we commission additional services to enable equitable health and wellbeing.
About the role:
We are seeking an experienced and values-driven Director to drive strategic and transformational change for the organisation and to support the organisation to embed the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voice within the fabric of our culture.As part of the senior leadership team, you will contribute to the development and implementation of the PHN's strategic framework, performance accountability mechanisms and organisational capability development to ensure the organisation delivers on its strategic directives.
Key Responsibilities
Establish productive, cross sector relationships with Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations, Hospital and Health Services, mainstream general practice and other key stakeholders to progress the PHN's contribution in closing the gap and achieving health equity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Lead the ongoing development and implementation of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health plan and operationalise commissioned programs and integration initiatives.
Lead the development and implementation of cross-cultural capability driving the organisation's contribution to reconciliation through respectful relationships both internally and in the communities in which we operate.
Review, advocate and implement reforms in the development and delivery of current programs, policies and engagement activities relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.
Provide strategic leadership and advice to the Executive team and Board in the development of responsive, integrated and inclusive policies, programs, services, and risk management strategies that meet the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.
Drive positive and measurable outcomes that progress towards the PHN's RAP priorities; including strengthening relationships, supporting cultural inclusion, increasing employment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and increasing provider diversity.
About You
You are an accomplished senior leader ideally with experience in health, human services, community services or public health planning.
You will bring:
A demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies and cultures and an understanding of the diversity of circumstances of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the issues affecting them in contemporary Australian society.
A deep and broad connection to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities, with influencing capability in bringing about significant change, including liaison with related government departments.
Experience in leading complex and long-term change in the health or community setting.
Exceptional people leadership, influencing and operational management skills.
A demonstrated systems thinking approach supported by strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to nurture solid working relationships and drive change processes with internal and external stakeholders including government, non-government and primary care sectors.
Highly developed written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to apply program and project management tools, processes, and methodologies.
Relevant tertiary qualifications and experience in health, social services, and/or health management and planning desirable.
