About the role
**Preference will be given to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants. **
We are seeking an experienced Injury Management and WHS Coordinator to support an ever growing workforce. This role is part time ( 32 hours per week) and is based in Maitland. The main focus of this role is coordinating end to end workers compensation claims and return to work programs in conjunction with key stakeholders. In addition you will also coordinate and monitor key WHS activities to ensure the organisation meets regulatory and compliance requirements.
In this hands on role you will be working with key people to;
Coordinate and report all workers compensation and Safe Work notifications required.
Act as the key liaison point for external stakeholders to coordinate and administer workers compensation and return to work programs, support injured staff and liaise with Safe Work NSW and SIRA.
Coordinate the safety committee.
Develop monthly WHS reports.
Review and update the Work Health and Safety Management Plan, and related policies, procedures and programs on an ongoing basis.
Conduct and monitor the WHS Audit program including completion of audits and reporting WHS audit results
Assist managers in risk management activities to identify hazards, assess risks, identify control measures and evaluate their effectiveness
You will bring knowledge and understanding of WHS and compliance requirements. You will have solid organisational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities. Your previous experience in a not-for-profit disability or Out of Home Care organisation will set you up for an easy transition into this role.
Skills and experience
Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety and/or relevant WHS experience. coupled with a minimum of 2 years' injury management experience preferably with experience in supporting psycho-social injuries.
Demonstrated experience in applying WHS legislative requirements in the workplace, preferably in the Disability and / or Out of Home Care sectors
Strong organisational skills, with demonstrated ability to work independently to organise and prioritise workload, handle multiple tasks and respond to multiple and diverse stakeholders.
Well-developed interpersonal, verbal communication and influencing skills
