Make your numbers count for something.
TIPACL is a local not-for-profit organisation supporting people with disability to live the life they choose.
We're looking for an organised, reliable and detail-focused Finance & Payroll Administration Assistant to join our Management and Administration team.
Working closely with our Finance Coordinator, you'll play an important role in keeping the financial and payroll functions of our organisation running smoothly. This is a varied position suited to someone who enjoys working with numbers, takes pride in getting the details right, and wants their work to contribute to an organisation making a genuine difference in the Townsville community.
About the role
No two weeks will look exactly the same. You'll provide hands-on support across payroll, accounts, NDIS-related financial administration and general office functions.
Your responsibilities will include:
Processing fortnightly payroll, including taxation, superannuation and salary sacrifice payments
Processing accounts payable and receivable
Entering creditor and debtor information and processing payments
Completing bank and petty cash reconciliations
Maintaining accurate financial records and the General Ledger
Assisting with monthly financial income and expenditure reporting
Preparing and submitting Business Activity Statements (BAS)
Uploading and processing NDIS claims
Assisting with the management and monitoring of NDIS plan management budgets
Supporting the Finance Coordinator with information and reporting for annual audits
Maintaining accurate digital records, filing and financial documentation
Providing general administration and reception support when required
Assisting with correspondence, data entry, office supplies and other day-to-day administrative tasks.
The position works closely with our Finance Coordinator while also being part of TIPACL's wider Management and Administration team.
About you
We're looking for someone who is accurate, organised and dependable, but who also enjoys being part of a close-knit team.
You'll ideally bring:
Previous experience in a finance, payroll, accounts or bookkeeping administration role
Experience processing payroll and a good understanding of payroll-related obligations
Experience with accounts payable/receivable and bank reconciliations
Strong computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word
Confidence working with financial, payroll and client management systems
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Strong organisational and time-management skills
Clear written and verbal communication skills
The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
A high level of discretion when handling confidential financial and employee information
The ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a team
A willingness to learn and adapt as systems and processes evolve.
Experience within the NDIS, disability, community services or not-for-profit sector would be highly regarded, particularly experience with NDIS claiming or plan management.
Relevant qualifications and/or demonstrated practical experience in finance, payroll, bookkeeping or administration will also be highly regarded. The existing position description identifies relevant qualifications and a minimum of two years' practical experience, along with experience in direct service delivery and knowledge of the not-for-profit sector.
Why join TIPACL?
TIPACL has been part of the Townsville community for decades, supporting people with disability to have choice and control over their lives.
When you join TIPACL, you're not simply processing payroll or reconciling accounts — the work happening behind the scenes helps our frontline teams continue providing quality support to the people who choose us.
You'll be joining a local, values-driven organisation where:
You'll work as part of a supportive and approachable Management and Administration team
Your role is wide-ranging and has a direct impact across the organisation
You'll have opportunities to develop your knowledge across finance, payroll and the NDIS
You'll work in an organisation focused on continuous improvement and quality
You'll know the work you do contributes to better outcomes for people with disability in our community.
