Key responsibilities
Monitor and maintain the integrity of sterilised RMDs and equipment, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards
Understand infection control principles and best practices in sterilisation
Work closely with other departments within the hospital to ensure timely availability of sterile RMDs for surgery and other procedures
Work on own initiative, prioritize and manage multiple issues simultaneously and demonstrate attention to detail
Identify and sort surgical instruments correctly
Inspect instruments for damage, cleanliness and function before sterilisation
Wrap and package instruments using appropriate materials (pouches, wrap, tray)
Operate autoclave, ultrasonic cleaners, washer disinfector and sterilisation tray
Use chemical indicators (CIs) and biological indicators (BIs)
Maintain effective record keeping and compliance with hospital policies and work health and safety
About you




Experience in the CSSD environment
Good time management and organizational skills, able to balance priorities
Effective communication skills with colleagues and patients
Understanding of person-centred care, evidence-based practice and quality improvement
Ability to work independently and as part of the team
Understanding of sterilisation processes and infection control prevention
Experience with medical equipment and instruments processes
Secure handling of contaminated instruments and hazardous material
