Work hands-on with next-generation autonomous vehicle technology
About us
Pacificas Freight is building a local engineering and maintenance team to support the Australian rollout of Westwell autonomous vehicle technology at Brisbane Port.
We are looking for an experienced, practical Vehicle Maintenance Engineer to support the inspection, maintenance, repair and recovery of autonomous vehicles operating in a live industrial environment.
Westwell is an international technology company transforming logistics through the combination of artificial intelligence, autonomous driving, intelligent fleet management and new-energy vehicle technology.
You will be employed by Pacificas Freight Pty Ltd as part of the Australian project team supporting Westwell's technology deployment.
About the role
This is a hands-on field maintenance role working directly with autonomous vehicles and associated systems.
You will support preventative maintenance, fault diagnosis, repairs, breakdown response and operational recovery to help keep the vehicle fleet operating safely and reliably.
The role combines established vehicle maintenance skills with exposure to a new generation of autonomous and intelligent vehicle technology.
What you will be doing
Your responsibilities will include:
inspecting and maintaining vehicles in accordance with prescribed maintenance schedules and maintenance manuals
.
diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults
.
performing preventative and corrective maintenance
.
replacing components and carrying out general mechanical repairs
.
inspecting and securing mechanical fittings, connections and components
.
responding to vehicle faults and breakdowns during operations
.
assisting with the safe recovery of vehicles following faults, incidents or accidents
.
coordinating vehicle recovery activities with the project and technical teams
.
providing onsite operational support where manual intervention is required
.
assisting when vehicles become immobilised or require manual recovery
.
supporting vehicle movements and operational recovery during interruptions
.
maintaining accurate records of faults, maintenance activities and repairs.
working closely with Westwell engineers and the local project team to identify and resolve vehicle issues.
These responsibilities reflect Westwell's requirement for capability across mechanical, electrical and hydraulic repairs, scheduled maintenance, onsite intervention and vehicle recovery.
About you
We are looking for someone who is practical,
safety-conscious and comfortable troubleshooting problems in the field.
You will ideally have:

at least two years of vehicle maintenance, mechanical maintenance or related experience
.
good knowledge of vehicle mechanical systems
.
familiarity with vehicle electrical systems
.
an understanding of hydraulic systems
.
strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills
.
a practical and hands-on approach to maintenance
.
the ability to work independently and as part of a technical team
.
strong communication skills
.
a responsible and safety-focused approach
.
a current driver's licence.
Westwell's role specification calls for more than two years of vehicle maintenance experience and familiarity with mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.

Mandarin and English
Professional working proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and English is mandatory for this position.
The role involves regular technical and operational communication with Westwell's Mandarin-speaking engineering and product teams, as well as Australian project stakeholders.
Candidates must therefore be comfortable discussing maintenance, faults, repairs and operational matters in both Mandarin and English.
You bring the maintenance expertise.
We provide the product training.
You do not need previous experience maintaining Westwell autonomous vehicles.
We are looking for people who already understand how to inspect, diagnose and repair vehicles and equipment.
Westwell will provide the project and product-specific training required to work safely and effectively with the autonomous vehicle platform.

For an experienced mechanic or maintenance engineer, this is an prospect to take established skills and apply them to an emerging area of transport technology.
Working environment
This is predominantly a site-based role at Brisbane Port, working around vehicles, equipment and port infrastructure.
The project operates across extended operating hours, and candidates must be comfortable working a roster that may include day and night shifts.
Safety, disciplined operating procedures and clear communication are critical parts of the role.
