Senior Financial Accountant (Group Services & Assets)

At Michael Hill, we're looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to lead financial accounting, reporting and asset related activities across our Group Services and asset management functions. This is a fantastic opportunity for a technically strong accountant who enjoys partnering with stakeholders, driving process improvements and providing meaningful commercial insights.
What You'll Be Doing
Reporting to the Finance Manager – Corporate, you'll play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting and supporting business performance across the Group. Your responsibilities will include:
Leading month-end reporting processes for Group Services and asset accounting
Manage the reporting and analysis of Group capital expenditure (Capex), providing insights on budget performance and variances. Reviewing financial results and providing insightful variance analysis
Managing balance sheet reconciliations and maintaining strong financial controls
Partnering with project leaders and stakeholders to drive accurate project costing and financial management
Supporting budgeting and forecasting processes
Providing technical accounting guidance relating to assets and SaaS arrangements
Coordinating audit requirements and statutory reporting activities
Driving continuous improvement initiatives across finance processes
Mentoring and supporting direct reports while fostering a collaborative team culture
What We're Looking For
We're seeking a commercially minded finance professional who combines strong technical expertise with the ability to build trusted stakeholder relationships.
You'll bring:
CPA or CA qualification
Degree in Accounting or a related discipline
5+ years' accounting experience
Strong financial reporting and general ledger experience
Sound knowledge of IFRS accounting standards
Experience managing balance sheet reconciliations and month-end processes
Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities
Experience working with ERP systems, with Dynamics 365 highly regarded
