***** hours per week | Grow into a full‐time role
Are you an experienced swim teacher, team leader or customer-focused professional ready to take the next step into management?
We're looking for a reliable, proactive and people-focused
Assistant Manager
to help support the day‐to‐day operations of our learn‐to‐swim centre.
This is a hands‐on role for someone who genuinely enjoys working with children, families and a team — and who isn't afraid to jump in, solve problems and help keep things running smoothly.
The position will initially be
***** hours per week
, with genuine potential for the right candidate to grow into a
full‐time management role
with increased responsibility across the day‐to‐day operation of the centre.
About the Role
Working closely with the Pool Manager, you'll help oversee the daily operation of the swim school and support both our instructors and families.
Your responsibilities will include:
Supporting the day‐to‐day running of the swim school
Helping coordinate staff coverage and responding to unexpected absences
Communicating professionally with parents and families
Responding to enquiries, bookings and general customer service
Supporting enrolments and helping families find suitable lesson times
Assisting with student progression and ensuring certificates and levels are being assessed consistently
Helping maintain accurate class rosters and student information
Supporting centre presentation, safety and general facility operations
Assisting with pool testing and operational checks where required
Stepping into swimming lessons when needed
Helping create a positive, qualified and supportive team culture
Taking responsibility for the centre when the Manager is unavailable
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is:
Reliable and highly organised
Confident communicating with parents, children and staff
Comfortable taking initiative and making decisions
Calm under pressure and able to problem‐solve
Professional, approachable and friendly
Comfortable giving and receiving constructive feedback
Able to balance customer service with maintaining clear expectations
Genuinely invested in helping children progress
Previous experience in swim teaching, aquatic supervision, team leadership, education, childcare, sport or customer service would be highly regarded.
Management experience is helpful, but
the right attitude, reliability and willingness to learn are just as important.
About Shapland Swim Schools
Our program is designed around
small, focused classes
, with a maximum of three students per class and only two classes operating in the pool at one time.
Our 20‐minute lessons allow instructors to provide individual attention while keeping children actively engaged and progressing.
We teach children from babies through to stroke development, with a strong focus on water confidence, survival skills, technique and building capable swimmers.
This Role Would Suit Someone Who...
Loves teaching but is ready for more responsibility
Wants to develop their leadership and management skills
Enjoys building relationships with families
Likes being part of a small, close‐knit team
Can confidently switch between administration, customer service, staff support and teaching
Wants a role where they can genuinely influence the experience of both staff and students
Is looking for a
***** hour role with the potential to grow into full‐time management
This is not a role where you simply stand back and supervise.
We're looking for someone who wants to become an important part of the operation, understands that consistency matters, and takes pride in helping create a swim school families and staff enjoy being part of.
