Dermal Clinician / Dermal Therapist (Casual)
DOCTOR SHAMMI is a dermatology clinic in Fitzroy, Melbourne. We combine medical expertise with advanced technology to deliver targeted solutions and meaningful results for our clients.
We are looking for a
casual Dermal Clinician or Dermal Therapist
, approximately 3 days per week, to join our team.This is an opportunity for someone who is early in their career but has a genuine passion for skin and is ready to develop their clinical skills in a highly specialised environment.

Our dermal clinicians are incredibly important to both our business and our clients. Dr Shammi, our founder, is generous with sharing her knowledge and skills and, where more structured training is required, we invest in developing our clinicians properly. Our technology is advanced, and we don't expect you to arrive knowing every device.
Training is part of the role.
What we do look for is a genuine passion for skin, an interest in solving skin concerns and a strong commitment to client experience. The technical knowledge can be taught. Curiosity and passion are much harder to teach.
About the Role
DOCTOR SHAMMI treats a broad range of skin concerns, including:
Acne
Pigmentation and melasma
Rosacea
Acne scarring
Skin texture and quality
We have two dedicated treatment rooms equipped with advanced technologies, including
Pico, Ultraformer, Sciton, EMface and Exion
, with further technologies across the clinic.
The role has two key components:
1.



Treating clients
You will progressively develop your treatment capabilities across our technologies, supported by structured training and clinical guidance.
This is an important part of how we develop our clinicians.
You will initially spend significant time assisting Dr Shammi during consultations. This may include taking client notes, understanding how she assesses skin concerns, explaining our technologies and supporting the consultation process.
As your knowledge and confidence develop, you will progressively take on more responsibility for treating clients.Our clinicians often tell us that being involved in consultations is one of the most valuable parts of their development. It gives you an opportunity to understand
why
a treatment is prescribed, rather than simply learning how to operate a device.
Who We Imagine You Will Be
We are looking for someone who is:
Passionate about skin and genuinely interested in dermatology
Curious and eager to learn
Comfortable working in a busy, changing environment
Warm, sophisticated and highly attentive to client experience
Reliable and consistent (reliability is very important)
Confident enough to ask questions and seek guidance
Interested in developing a long-term career in advanced skin treatments
From an education perspective, you will ideally be




nearing completion of your dermal studies or have graduated within the past 12 months
. We aren't looking for someone with years of experience. In fact, we see significant value in someone who is early in their career and still highly receptive to learning.
Some previous experience in a laser, skin or advanced aesthetics clinic would be advantageous, but it isn't essential.
What matters most is your foundation, attitude and willingness to develop.

You'll also develop your understanding of acne, pigmentation, melasma, ageing, rosacea and acne scarring, as well as how to appropriately recommend skincare as part of a client's overall treatment plan. We know you may not stay with us forever. Our goal is to help you leave DOCTOR SHAMMI more knowledgeable, confident and clinically capable than when you arrived.
Things to Know
Casual position, approximately 3 days per week
Saturday availability is required
Potential to progress into a part-time or full-time position over the next 12 months
Initial focus will be on supporting Dr Shammi in consultation, with progressive development into client treatments
