Broadbean Catering & Events
Canberra
Broadbean Catering & Events is a Canberra-based catering and events company, proudly operating at the National Museum of Australia.
We deliver a wide range of events including conferences, corporate functions, gala dinners, networking events and private celebrations.
We're a hands-on team that takes pride in good food, great service and making sure every event runs smoothly. If you enjoy working with people, leading a team and being part of a busy events environment, we'd love to hear from you.
About the role
As a Function Manager, you will take ownership of event delivery from the moment the brief is handed over by our Sales and Events team. Acting as the link between the client and the operations team, you will lead front-of-house staff, coordinate suppliers, and ensure every detail is executed to the highest standard.
From client arrival through to event pack-down, you will be the primary point of contact, managing requests, resolving issues, and ensuring a seamless experience for both clients and guests. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in a hospitality environment.
Key Responsibilities
Review all event documentation thoroughly, including event orders, floor plans, dietary and accessibility requirements, AV requirements, supplier details, and client contacts.
Conduct pre-event briefings with the front-of-house team, kitchen staff, and suppliers to ensure everyone understands event timings, service expectations, and client requirements.
Liaise closely with security, cleaning, and support teams to ensure the smooth delivery of all events.
Inspect event spaces prior to guest arrival, ensuring room setup, presentation, and overall readiness align with the event brief.
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients during events,
welcoming them on arrival, confirming event details, and providing support throughout the function.
Lead and support the front-of-house team by allocating duties, delivering pre-shift briefings, and maintaining high service standards throughout the event.
Adhere to and enforce all WHS, risk management, emergency response, and evacuation procedures, completing incident reports accurately and promptly when required.
Ensure compliance with Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) requirements and support the team in maintaining safe and responsible service standards.
Complete comprehensive post-event reports outlining event outcomes, timelines, client feedback, reporting directly to the Operations and Events Manager.
About you
Previous experience in hospitality is essential, including events, bars, restaurants, or high-volume food and beverage operations, with demonstrated experience leading teams in a customer-facing service environment.
Hold a current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate.
A confident and professional communicator who can build strong client relationships and remain calm and composed in a rapid-paced environment.
Strong leadership, organisational, and time management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple priorities simultaneously.
Highly detail-oriented, with the ability to interpret event briefs, run sheets, and operational requirements to ensure seamless event delivery.
Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays, in line with scheduled events.
If you are a motivated hospitality professional who enjoys leading teams and creating memorable event experiences, we'd love to hear from you.
Applicants must have current working rights in Australia.
