Community & Disbaility Support Worker – Katoomba, NSW & Blue Mountains Area

We are expanding our Support Worker network in Katoomba and the wider Blue Mountains, NSW, and are looking for compassionate, reliable and inclusive people who want to support others to live with greater independence, confidence and choice.

What We're Looking For
We are seeking Support Workers in Katoomba, NSW who are passionate about providing secure, respectful and person-centred support.
Our participant-matching opportunities may involve supporting people with:
Disability and NDIS support needs
Autism and neurodiversity
Mental health
Community access and social participation
Daily living and independent living skills
Aged care and companionship

We value Support Workers who are reliable, emotionally aware, adaptable and genuinely interested in helping people achieve their goals.
You don't need to be the right person for every participant. Our approach is based on finding the right participant–Support Worker match according to skills, experience, personality, availability, location and individual preferences.
Key Responsibilities
Depending on the participant's individual support plan and needs, your responsibilities may include:
Providing
person-centred disability support
in the home and community.
Supporting participants with
community access and social participation
.
Assisting people to develop confidence, independence and practical life skills.
Providing companionship and meaningful social connection.
Supporting participants to attend appointments, activities and community events.
Assisting with household tasks, meal preparation and daily living activities where required.
Providing respectful support to people experiencing mental health challenges.
Using calm,
trauma-informed and recovery-oriented approaches
where appropriate.
Supporting children and young people with age-appropriate activities where relevant.
Adapting communication and support strategies to each participant's needs.
Building respectful and trusting relationships with participants and their support networks.
Respecting each person's identity, choices, boundaries, routines and preferences.
Maintaining accurate shift notes and required documentation.
Communicating professionally with participants, families, Support Coordinators and the Chosen Family team.
Providing reliable and consistent support and communicating promptly about availability or changes.

When an opportunity becomes available in Katoomba or surrounding Blue Mountains areas, we may contact Support Workers whose profiles appear aligned with the participant's needs and preferences.

Essential Requirements
Applicants should have:
NDIS Worker Screening Check
Working with Children Check (WWCC)
Current First Aid Certificate
Valid Australian Driver's Licence
Access to a reliable vehicle
Ability and willingness to travel approximately
30 minutes
to support participants where required
Availability for shifts of approximately
3–4 hours or longer
, depending on participant requirements
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Commitment to safe, respectful and person-centred support
Respect for people of diverse backgrounds, identities, cultures and lived experiences
LGBTQIA+ awareness and an inclusive approach to support
Additional qualifications and experience in disability, mental health, aged care, community services, youth work or related fields are highly regarded.
