With offices in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, we work on all building types, occupancies and configurations nationwide, so the projects are varied and the technical challenges are rarely repetitive.
The Opportunity
You've built a solid foundation in fire engineering and you're ready for more ownership, more complex projects and a bigger say in the outcome. As a Fire Safety Engineer in our Melbourne office, you'll play a key role in developing fire safety strategies and Performance Solutions across a wide range of projects, working directly with design teams, authorities and clients.
You'll join a specialist team of like-minded professionals in a positive, energetic workplace where technical curiosity and positive ideas are encouraged.
What You'll Be Doing
Developing fire safety strategies and Performance Solutions that meet the Performance Requirements of the NCC and Victorian regulations.
Carrying out fire engineering analysis and calculations, including CFD fire and smoke modelling and occupant egress modelling.
Assessing fire safety solutions and innovations for compliance with codes and standards, and preparing Performance Solution reports.
Collaborating with design team members, contractors and authorities through design meetings, authority meetings and site inspections.
Working alongside DDEG's other specialist disciplines to deliver holistic solutions for clients.
Building smarter calculation tools, methodologies and internal processes, including Victorian requirements, that the whole team can use.
Growing lasting client relationships and your reputation as a trusted adviser.
What We're Looking For
3 or more years' experience as a Fire Safety Engineer or Fire Safety Consultant.
Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering (mechanical, biomechanical, civil or structural preferred).
Exposure to CFD and egress modelling, or a strong appetite to build these skills.
Strong report writing and communication skills, with a track record of delivering high-quality, detail-focused work.
The ability to manage your own workload and priorities while collaborating well within a larger team.
A client-focused approach, and a genuine interest in improving fire safety in the built environment.
A creative, positive and proactive mindset.
A valid Victorian driver's licence and access to a vehicle for site inspections.
Interest in mentoring graduates and junior engineers as you progress.
What's in It for You
DDEG values its people's contributions and offers competitive remuneration, bonuses and flexible work arrangements. You'll also enjoy:
Exposure to a national portfolio of projects across every building type;
Training and study opportunities, plus regular CPD, to deepen your technical expertise;
Market-leading tools and resources;
A positive office culture with regular team-building; and
