Cairns GP Medical Centre – Cairns North QLD
We are seeking an experienced and patient-focused Medical Receptionist to join the supportive team at Cairns GP Medical Centre in a full-time position. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a busy general practice environment, delivers excellent service and can confidently manage competing priorities. The successful candidate must have at least two years' medical reception experience and practical experience using Best Practice software.
Operating Hours: 8:00 am–6:00 pm
Key Responsibilities
Provide patients with general preparation and billing information for appointments and procedures.
Provide friendly, skilled and efficient reception services to patients, doctors and visitors.
Manage incoming calls, patient enquiries, appointment bookings and day-to-day front desk workflow
Support appointment book management, patient flow and provider utilisation
Respond to patient concerns and escalations calmly, respectfully and in line with practice processes
Maintain a tidy, organised and welcoming reception area
Support clear communication between patients, doctors,



nurses and administration staff
About You
At least two years' experience as a medical receptionist.
Demonstrated experience using Best Practice software.
Ability to manage a high volume of calls and competing priorities.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Strong attention to detail, initiative and willingness to learn.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Availability to work full-time during the practice's operating hours of 7:30 am–6:00 pm.
