At Audax, our mission is to cure disease by harnessing the entire immune system. We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Research Assistant (Scientist Level I-II) to support our drug discovery and development pipeline.
Working closely with colleagues from the Protein Engineering & Biologics team, as well as across the organization as a whole, the Scientist I-II will undertake activities to facilitate the progression of novel drugs from the initial 'hit discovery' phase through to IND-filing.
Within this context, the Scientist will undertake a broad range of activities, spanning DNA construct design, protein expression & purification, protein characterization & quality control. Experience with high-throughput expression, complex biomolecules or antibody discovery technologies would be well regarded.
The role will suit candidates who enjoy working in a fast paced and dynamic team environment, whilst adhering to the highest standards of scientific rigour and data integrity.
What you'll do:
Conduct high-quality research under limited supervision, either as a part of a research team or where appropriate, independently.
Draft, review and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to support compliant and high-quality research.
Work closely with the Senior Scientists within the Protein Engineering & Biologics team to ensure workflows and procedures meet established quality and compliance standards.
Conduct experiments in a rigorous manner, maintaining accurate, complete and auditable records of experimental procedures and outcomes.

Use appropriate tools and software to analyse data and generate clear, accurate data visualisations.
Contribute to operational and scientific discussions within relevant research area(s).
Assist with staff training, technology transfer and laboratory maintenance, as required.
To qualify for the role:
An honours degree (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant discipline with a minimum of 2 years' experience working in an academic or industry-based research environment.
Enthusiastic, high energy, and collaborative team player with strong ability to work in a collegiate manner to enable high performance and team success.
Demonstrated understanding of the principles of confidentiality, privacy and appropriate information handling.
Hands‐on experience with large scale protein expression in prokaryotic and eukaryotic systems.
Experience in diverse protein purification and characterisation technologies
Experience with standard molecular biology techniques for recombinant DNA manipulation.
Be competent in mammalian cell culture and have experience with different methods for cell transfection/transduction.
Experience with multi-specific antibodies, high-throughput expression and/or display technologies is highly desirable.
Extensive experience with accurate record keeping and the use of electronic lab notebooks.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare transparent documentation and liaise effectively with stakeholders.
Well-developed planning and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise competing tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic research environment.
Applicants must have valid working rights in Australia.
