About the Role
As a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner, you'll play a critical role in supporting people with disability to live meaningful lives of their choosing. Working within Melba's trauma-informed and human rights-based practice framework, you'll deliver evidence-based positive behaviour support services that focus on improving quality of life, strengthening skills and supports, and reducing and eliminating restrictive practices over time. You'll manage a clinical caseload, work collaboratively with people we support, families, support teams and external stakeholders, and provide coaching and guidance to help embed positive behaviour support practices across the organisation.

What You'll Be Doing
In this role, you'll provide person-led positive behaviour support services that uphold human rights and drive meaningful outcomes.
You will:
Manage a clinical caseload in line with contemporary trauma-informed positive behaviour support practices
Complete functional and behavioural assessments to understand risk, causal and contributing factors relating to behaviours of concern
Develop and implement evidence-based Positive Behaviour Support Plans that focus on quality of life, skill development and the reduction of restrictive practices
Work closely with people supported, families, advocates and support networks to achieve positive outcomes
Provide coaching, training and modelling to support workers, operational leaders and other stakeholders
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of behaviour support strategies and adjust plans as required
Design and analyse relevant data to measure outcomes and support continuous improvement
Maintain accurate and timely clinical records and documentation
Support reflective practice and capability building across service delivery teams
Contribute to organisational clinical risk management, including assessments, referrals, incident responses and capacity-building activities
Develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure coordinated and effective support
Keep up to date with contemporary positive behaviour support practices, legislation and sector developments
What Makes a Great Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner?
We're looking for someone who is passionate about human rights, values collaboration and is committed to delivering high-quality positive behaviour support outcomes. You'll be confident working with a range of stakeholders and able to balance clinical expertise with a person-led and practical approach.
You will bring:
Demonstrated experience delivering positive behaviour support services within disability, health, community or related sectors




Strong knowledge of contemporary positive behaviour support frameworks and trauma-informed practice
Experience completing behavioural assessments and developing Positive Behaviour Support Plans
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
Experience providing coaching, mentoring, training or practice guidance to others
Working knowledge of the Disability Act **** (Vic), NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission requirements and restrictive practice frameworks
The ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining high-quality outcomes and documentation standards
Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
A collaborative approach, qualified resilience and commitment to continuous improvement
Experience supervising or supporting practitioners at other capability levels (highly regarded)
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Education, Behavioural Science or a related discipline
Endorsement as a Specialist NDIS Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner at the Proficient level of the NDIS PBS Capability Framework, or the ability to meet the requirements at the Proficient level
Current NDIS Worker Screening Check or willingness to obtain
Current Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain
Current Australian Driver Licence and willingness to undertake regular travel as required
Successful completion of pre-employment screening, mandatory training and ongoing compliance requirements
Commitment to workplace health, safety and wellbeing responsibilities
