Land Management & Biosecurity Technical Officer

We are looking for a Land Management and Biosecurity Technical Officer to join our Natural Environment & Sustainability team. Reporting to the Manager Natural Environment & Sustainability, you will help protect the Cassowary Coast region from invasive plants and animals that threaten our environment, economy and community.
You will undertake invasive plant and animal control, surveillance and response activities, applying appropriate treatments across Council-controlled land, including roads and drains. The role will also support fire management activities and contribute to the prevention, preparedness, response and recovery from biosecurity threats across the region.
Fixed Term Part Time (until February ****)
Located in Innisfail and across the region
About the Role
Land management and biosecurity obligations are delivered in accordance with the Cassowary Coast Local Area Biosecurity Plan.
Effective communication, engagement and collaboration with stakeholders and the community.
Sustainable biosecurity outcomes that improve community understanding of biosecurity management practices and processes.
About You
You will enjoy working outdoors, protecting the natural environment and undertaking practical, hands‐on work across the Cassowary Coast. You will have tertiary qualifications in Conservation and Land Management or Horticulture, be working towards a relevant qualification, or bring demonstrated experience and equivalent knowledge in natural resource management, biosecurity or land management, particularly pest control,
vegetation maintenance and weed management. You will be comfortable working independently and as part of a team across varied environments and conditions. A Construction Safety White Card and current Queensland 'C' Class Driver Licence are essential.
