Hunter Valley Steel is seeking a dedicated and organised
Storeperson
to join our team in Maitland, NSW. This is a
full-time position
based at our warehouse and storage facility. As a Storeperson, you will be the backbone of our inventory management operations, ensuring that all materials, products and equipment are properly stored, organised and readily accessible. This role is crucial to maintaining the efficiency of our supply chain and supporting the smooth operation of our business across all departments.
Key responsibilities
Receiving, unpacking and inspecting incoming inventory to ensure accuracy and quality compliance
Organising and storing materials in designated locations within the warehouse, maintaining clear labelling and documentation
Maintaining accurate inventory records using warehouse management systems and manual tracking methods
Picking, packing and preparing orders for dispatch to customers and internal departments
Conducting regular stock counts and reconciliation to identify discrepancies and ensure inventory accuracy
Operating warehouse equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently
Maintaining cleanliness, safety and organisation standards throughout the warehouse and storage areas
Identifying and reporting damaged goods, stock shortages or other issues to management promptly
Supporting the loading and unloading of delivery vehicles as required
Adhering to all health, safety and environmental procedures to maintain a secure workplace
What we're looking for
Previous experience working as a Storeperson, Warehouse Assistant or in a similar inventory management role
Proficiency in using warehouse management systems and basic computer literacy
Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification
Strong organisational and attention to detail skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
Physical capability to lift, carry and move materials regularly throughout shifts
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced warehouse workplace
Knowledge of health and safety procedures and commitment to maintaining workplace safety standards
Excellent communication skills and reliability in meeting deadlines
Ability to read and interpret documentation such as inventory lists, shipping labels and storage instructions
