Position Overview
Happy Seeds Early Learning Centre and Kindergarten is looking for an experienced and passionate
Baby Room Leader
to lead our baby room team and provide high-quality care and education for our youngest children.
The ideal candidate will have a
Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care or equivalent qualification
, previous experience working with babies and a genuine passion for supporting infants' learning, development and emotional well-being.
As the Baby Room Leader, you will lead and support a small team of educators to create a warm, secure and responsive environment where babies can develop trusting relationships, explore their surroundings and reach their individual developmental milestones.
You will work closely with educators, families and the wider team to ensure each child's individual needs, routines, interests and development are understood and supported.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, support and mentor the team of educators in the Baby Room.
Plan, implement and evaluate a high-quality, play-based educational program that is appropriate for babies and their individual stages of development.
Develop strong,



respectful and trusting relationships with babies and their families.
Support children's emotional well-being by providing responsive, nurturing and consistent care.
Follow and support individual sleep, feeding, settling and care routines in consultation with families.
Observe, document and assess children's learning and development, using observations to inform future planning.
Ensure the health, safety, hygiene and well-being of all children in the room.
Create a safe, engaging and stimulating environment that encourages babies to explore, discover and develop new skills.
Maintain accurate records, documentation and daily communication with families.
Communicate professionally and respectfully with families regarding their child's development, routines, interests and experiences.
Work collaboratively with the Centre Director, educational leaders and other room leaders to ensure consistency across the service.
Support educators through effective teamwork, guidance, role modelling and professional communication.
Ensure the room operates in accordance with the
National Quality Framework (NQF), National Quality Standard (NQS), Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF)
and relevant policies and procedures.
Participate in team meetings, professional development and continuous improvement initiatives.
Support the transition of children into and out of the Baby Room and help families feel confident and comfortable throughout the process.
Requirements




Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care or equivalent qualification
(minimum requirement).
Previous experience working in an early childhood education and care setting, preferably with experience working with babies.
Previous leadership or room leader experience is highly desirable.
Robust understanding of infant development, attachment, responsive caregogy and the individual needs of babies.
Strong understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework and National Quality Standards.
Excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills.
Ability to build positive and respectful relationships with children, families and colleagues.
Ability to work collaboratively while confidently leading and supporting a team.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis qualifications.
Current Police Check and Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
Foundations of Child Safety training certificate.
Availability to work
4–5 days per week
