Ivanhoe Girls’ Grammar School is an Anglican day school strongly committed to single sex education for girls. Catering for students from Early Learning Centre (Three Year Old) to Year 12, Ivanhoe Girls’ Grammar School seeks to provide excellence in education within a caring Christian community and to prepare young women for a personally and professionally fulfilling life.
Applications are invited from suitably experienced and highly motivated educators for the position of Deputy Head of Junior commencing January 2027. This is a significant leadership opportunity for an outstanding teacher who is passionate about curriculum, student learning, and developing staff capability.

Working closely with the Head of Junior School, the Deputy Head of Junior School plays a key role in supporting the strategic and operational leadership of the Junior School.
About the role
As an exemplary educator, the Deputy Head of Junior School is responsible for the day-to-day management and planning of the Junior School. Key areas of responsibility include:
- Management of rosters, timetables and staff absences
- Coordinating daily operations and staffing requirements
- Curriculum planning, assessment and reporting processes
- Supporting staff professional learning and development
- Leading and promoting a culture of continuous improvement
- Contributing to student wellbeing initiatives and school programs
- Supporting the strategic direction and ongoing development of the Junior School
This is a full-time ongoing teaching position. The Deputy Head of Junior School position of responsibility will be fixed term for 4 years.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Significant teaching experience and a strong understanding of contemporary Junior School education
- Demonstrated experience and interest in curriculum development and academic program enhancement
- Expertise in leading, modelling and coaching high-performing staff
- A commitment to fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement
- The ability to build strong professional relationships and collaborative work practices
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to gain the support of colleagues
- Strong organisational, administrative and problem-solving capabilities
- Current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration
Staff at Ivanhoe Girls’ are expected to be committed to providing a stimulating, challenging and creative learning environment for girls and enjoy working collaboratively with other colleagues within their team.
In addition, all staff are required to participate in the wellbeing program of the School, to take rostered grounds duty and to participate actively in the wider co-curricular program of the School.
