Laurus Education

Melbourne

- Blend academic governance administration with library management

- 4-day week (0.8 FTE part-time) with flexibility across two varied areas of responsibility

- Join a growing, TEQSA and CRICOS registered higher education provider

About Us

Laurus Education is a privately owned, multi-entity education provider delivering vocational, ELICOS and higher education programs to international and domestic students across Australia, Recent Zealand and offshore. We work closely with employers, regulators and community partners to support skills development and workforce participation locally and internationally. Laurus Higher Education (LHE) holds TEQSA and CRICOS registration and delivers a growing suite of higher education programs.

About the role

This blended, part-time role combines Laurus Higher Education's academic governance administration function with day-to-day management of the LHE library. You'll be responsible for the organisation, administration and record keeping of LHE's formal academic governance bodies — making sure committees are convened properly, papers are prepared on time, and minutes meet the standard required for TEQSA compliance — alongside curating and running the library's physical and digital resources in support of student and staff learning.

The governance administration side is the larger and more regulatory-critical part of the role; the library function is operationally lighter and complements it well within a 4-day working week. You'll report to the Chief Academic Officer and engage across all Laurus Higher Education entities as required.

What you'll be doing

- Preparing and circulating agendas and papers, attending meetings, and producing accurate minutes and action registers for the Board of Examiners, Learning and Teaching Committee, Course Advisory Committee, Academic Board and related subcommittees

- Maintaining the annual governance meeting calendar, tracking action items, and keeping records audit-ready for TEQSA/HESF purposes

- Maintaining the register of academic policies and procedures, including version control and review schedules

- Managing academic governance correspondence and acting as first point of contact for committee members and stakeholders, referring sensitive matters to the Chief Academic Officer

- Overseeing acquisition, organisation and accessibility of the library's physical and digital collection

- Helping students and staff locate and use information resources, and supporting information literacy, referencing and academic integrity skills

- Generating basic library usage data for the Director, Learning and Innovation

About you

- Demonstrated experience providing secretariat or administrative support to formal committees, boards or governance bodies, including agenda preparation, papers management and minute-taking to a professional standard (essential)

- Experience in a higher education environment with an understanding of academic governance structures, TEQSA obligations and HE regulatory requirements (highly desirable)

- Experience managing or supporting a library or information resource collection is desirable but not essential — a genuine willingness to learn library systems will suit an otherwise strong governance candidate

- Excellent written English and a demonstrated ability to produce clear, accurate, well-structured minutes and correspondence

- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office

- A Diploma or Certificate IV in Business Administration, Library and Information Management, or a related field is desirable; relevant work experience will be considered in place of formal qualifications

- Highly organised, precise and detail-oriented, with the discretion to handle sensitive governance, student and personnel information

- Approachable, service-minded and adaptable, comfortable moving between two distinct areas of responsibility

Why Join Us?
Join a growing higher education provider where your work will directly contribute to strong academic governance, institutional quality and regulatory confidence.

This 0.8 FTE part-time opportunity provides the chance to work closely with senior academic leaders and contribute to the effective governance and administration of a dynamic higher education environment.
