Our Intellectual Property (IP) and Consumer Markets practice is recognised as one of the leading teams in Australia and demand for our services has created an opportunity for an Associate to contribute further to the expansion of our team. Working with some of Australia’s best known brands, the team is skilled in handling high-profile IP transactions of all types, as well as supporting brand and asset creation both locally and in conjunction with the wider global team on cross-border matters.
In this role you will be working closely with Georgina Hey, supporting clients from a broad range of industries, covering:
- Trade mark, design and domain name management – including advising in relation to new brand clearances and managing significant trade mark portfolios for well-known Australian and global brands;
- Advising in relation to IP asset protection and maintenance matters, infringement issues and trade mark oppositions
- IP licensing and commercialisation transactions
- IP due diligence for M&A; transactions
- Advising in relation to the ACL and commercial legal issues impacting our brands clients
- Other commercial transactions including supply, distribution and marketing arrangements such as influencer and sponsorship arrangements
Requirements
- A minimum of 1+ years PQE gained within a reputable Intellectual Property/Commercial practice
- Strong time management & organisational skills with the capacity to manage multiple conflicting priorities simultaneously
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including strong drafting skills
- Intellectual curiosity and a love of learning
