About the role

City Fleet is seeking a skilled and experienced Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic to join our team in our Townsville Workshop (Mount St John) delivering high-quality mechanical and technical support to our customers.

Key responsibilities

Perform inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on a variety of heavy-duty trucks and commercial vehicles in a workshop environment

Conduct routine maintenance services, including oil changes, brake inspections, tyre rotations, and more

Troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems in trucks

Repair or replace engine components, such as fuel pumps, turbochargers, and timing belts

Perform minor welding, cutting,



and fabrication repairs as required

Maintain accurate records of work performed, including parts used, repairs made, and hours worked

Ensure all work is carried out following safety standards and company policies

About you

Proven experience as a mechanic working with heavy-duty trucks and commercial vehicles

Australian Recognised Trade Certificate

Ability to diagnose, maintain, and repair a variety of heavy road transport fleets in the workshop and field

Must have own hand tools

High level of precision and attention to detail in repairs and maintenance

Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently

Reliable, punctual, and committed to delivering quality service

Minimum C class license required, ideally HR license

Must hold a valid work visa or Australian work rights

Competitive hourly rate based on experience and rosters

Superannuation paid on all hours worked
