To provide strategic support to the Senior Manager Workforce Health and Safety for District‑wide safety initiatives, and to provide WHS support to ISLHD’s hospital sites and Service groups as directed. To ensure compliance with ISLHD’s Work Health and Safety Management System (SMS), including compliance with ISLHD’s WHS strategic direction and relevant statutory requirements.

Wollongong Hospital is the Illawarra Shoalhaven’s major referral and teaching hospital and has a bed‑base count of more than 500. The campus, which incorporates the Illawarra Regional Cancer Care Centre, provides a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community‑based services.

Wollongong is located an hour’s drive south of Sydney on a narrow coastal strip bordered by the Royal National Park to the north, Lake Illawarra to the south, the Tasman Sea to the east and the Illawarra Escarpment to the west. Please note you must have the following essential requirements:

- Applicable vaccination requirements for a Category B role.
- Relevant qualifications in WHS (minimum Certificate IV in WHS) or equivalent experience and relevant skills and knowledge in Risk Management, along with demonstrated experience in the proactive application of risk management processes in the workplace.
- Current, unrestricted Driver’s Licence.

This is a temporary leave relief position until 19 September 2027 with the possibility of extension.
