Brisbane City Council - Cremator Operator

We have a rewarding prospect within Brisbane City Council Cemeteries for a dedicated Cremator Operator to join our team. Operating across North and South Brisbane sites-including Pinnaroo Lawn (Bridgeman Downs), Mount Gravatt, Toowong, and Hemmant Cemeteries-you will play a crucial role in delivering respectful, accurate, and dignified cremation services to the community.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

- Cremation Operations: Safely operate, monitor, and maintain cremation equipment in strict accordance with Council standards and health regulations.

- Service Preparation & Handling: Respectfully transport, handle, and prepare coffins for the cremation process.

- Processing & Identity Verification: Carry out precise identity verification steps, process ashes, and carefully prepare remains for collection or interment.

- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate operational logs, chain-of-custody documentation, and routine equipment service records.

What You Will Need to Succeed

We are seeking reliable, compassionate individuals who show exceptional attention to detail, commitment to safety, and respect for council procedures.

Role Requirements:





- Support and assist with moving light plant/machinery across cemetery grounds where required.

- Strong communication skills and a professional, empathetic demeanor.

- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a close-knit team.

- Demonstrated ability in crematorium operations, cremation processes, and operating associated machinery/equipment.

- Sound knowledge and application of Workplace Health & Safety Management Systems.

Mandatory Licences & Certifications:

- C Class Driver Licence (Minimum)

- White Card (Construction Induction)
