Women's Health and Equality Queensland – South Brisbane QLD

0.8 FTE or Full Time | South Brisbane | SCHADS Level 5

Are you someone who is good at building relationships, seeing the bigger picture and finding practical ways to make services work better for people?

We’re looking for a Women’s Health Liaison Officer to help strengthen the connections between women, and the health and community service system.

About the role

Working across WHEQ’s Health & Equality and Clinical Services teams, the Women’s Health Liaison Officer helps improve how women and gender-diverse people connect with services and supports.

You’ll identify gaps and barriers across the participant journey and turn what we learn into practical improvements - whether that’s strengthening referral pathways, building partnerships, improving processes and resources, or responding to emerging needs through community education.

You’ll work closely with WHEQ teams and external partners across health, housing, family and domestic violence, community services, education and government.

Key responsibilities

- identify participant needs, service gaps and barriers and help develop practical solutions

- strengthen referral pathways and service coordination across WHEQ and the broader service system

- use participant feedback, referral trends and service information to identify opportunities for improvement

- build productive relationships and partnerships with external services and stakeholders

- develop resources and processes that support service navigation, consistency and accessibility

- deliver health literacy, psychoeducational and community education activities

- contribute to program planning, evaluation, reporting and quality improvement.

About you

You are someone who can see the bigger picture,

build strong relationships and turn ideas into practical improvements.

What you will bring to the role:

- a relevant degree in Social Work, Public Health, Human Services, Social Sciences or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of qualifications and experience

- experience in service coordination or navigation, systems improvement, community development, health promotion or a related field

- knowledge of women’s health, gender equity and issues including mental health, family, domestic and sexual violence, housing insecurity and health inequity

- strong communication, facilitation and relationship-building skills

- an understanding of intersectional feminism, trauma-informed and person-centred practice, and culturally and socially inclusive practice

- the ability to work collaboratively across teams and with external organisations.

You’ll also need a current Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or be willing to obtain, and be able to travel within Queensland when required.

Some out-of-hours work and travel may be required, including travel within Queensland.
