About the work unit / facility
The Infection Prevention and Control Service is a multidisciplinary team based at Townsville University Hospital that provides specialist infection prevention and control support across the Hospital and Health Service, including rural hospitals, residential aged care facilities, and community-based services. Through a dedicated outreach model, the team delivers expert advice, education, surveillance, and staff health programs to promote safe, high-quality care for patients, staff, and visitors.
The service leads a range of initiatives focused on reducing healthcare-associated infections, supporting compliance with national safety and quality standards, promoting hand hygiene and immunisation programs, and enhancing workforce capability through education and ongoing support.

Competitive salary and benefits:
We offer attractive remuneration packages and generous leave entitlements.
- Base salary range: $57.76 - $61.85 p.h.
- 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading
- 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation

About your opportunity
The Clinical Nurse (Infection Prevention and Control) plays a key role in protecting the health and safety of patients, staff, and visitors across the healthcare setting. As part of the Infection Prevention and Control team, you will contribute to the prevention and management of healthcare-associated infections through the provision of expert clinical advice, education, surveillance, and evidence-based practice.
Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, you will support the delivery of protected, high-quality healthcare by promoting best-practice infection prevention and control measures. Through a customer-focused approach, you will provide specialist guidance, build capability across the workforce, and contribute to a responsive healthcare environment that prioritises patient safety and quality care.
