At Fuseco, we believe that the secret to our success is the quality of our people. We aim to inspire our team to achieve their potential by providing them with the support and expertise they need to enhance their professional development. There is a genuine growth opportunity here for the right candidate who wants to build a long-term career path, not just a job.
We have an opportunity for an experienced Purchasing Officer to join our team in a full-time capacity. Operating from our Melbourne premises in Cheltenham, this dynamic, hands‑on role ensures that our international purchasing and import processes run like clockwork. With full training and support provided, you will take full ownership of your tasks, working independently to manage a high volume of orders, fast-moving daily ad hoc/indent items, and critical system updates, allowing the company to deliver an exceptional customer experience.
This exciting role is at the centre of what our company is known for - the sale and support of technically advanced and globally recognised electrical product solutions and the delivery of the best customer care in our industry.
Who are we?
Fuseco is an established company (30 years) in the electrical industry that is experiencing sales growth.
We are a national company with office and warehouse facilities in Melbourne (HQ), Sydney and Perth.
We source a complete range of niche electrical products from all over the world and supply them to our customers in various electrical industries in Australia and Recent Zealand.
We are an importer and distributor with a focus on business‑to‑business sales.
We are a progressive, ambitious company that really values its people.
You will have these primary responsibilities:
- Purchasing Operations:
Managing and issuing a high volume of daily indent orders.
- Prepayments & Order Processing: Organising vendor prepayments when required for orders that need to be paid upon confirmation.
- System & Data Accuracy: Diligently managing supplier order confirmations and follow‑ups, processing revised backorder notifications, checking packing lists for consolidated shipments, and keeping system ETAs and EDDs meticulously up‑to‑date on a daily basis.
- Import Logistics, Customs & Freight: Requesting ad hoc freight quotations, booking DHL shipments and managing courier requirements (including preparing proforma invoices), and handling customs clearance paperwork, such as Tariff Concession applications.
- Customer Returns & Credit Management: Processing customer return documentation and accurately issuing corresponding customer credits.
- Supply Chain Customer Support: Living our "customer comes first" value by proactively following up, communicating status updates, and supporting customer requirements as a core, end‑to‑end supply chain responsibility.
- Multi‑Channel Workflow Management: Successfully balancing multiple inputs across emails, Microsoft Teams chats, and shared mailboxes in a fast‐paced environment.
What you will need
- Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience working in an international purchasing, importing, or supply chain environment.
- Autonomous & Organised: A highly organised personality with the ability to work independently,
take full control of your tasks, and manage a high volume of orders and multi‑channel communications.
- Process‑Driven Yet Adaptable: You appreciate strong systems and order accuracy, but you possess the flexibility to think on your feet, knowing that no two orders are identical and being comfortable navigating unique scenarios without a rigid playbook.
- Customer‑First Supply Chain Mindset: You understand that customer care isn't just a separate department, it lives in the supply chain. You are naturally proactive in following up, communicating updates, and ensuring customer needs are met.
- People & Communication Skills: Great ‘people skills’ and the ability to build strong, long‑lasting relationships with international vendors and local teams.
- Growth Mindset: Seek continual improvement in what you do and want a true career path with room to grow.
- Culture Fit: Initiative, self‑motivation, a "whatever it takes" attitude, and the ability to tolerate questionable humour.
