About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and capable Community Services Worker - Family & Youth to join Legacy Club Services in a full time position. Reporting to the Family & Youth Team Leader, you will provide social work and community support services to families of contemporary veterans, Legatees and other stakeholders, including Legacy youth, partners, widows and guardians.

You will deliver person-centred case management, referral and advocacy services, working collaboratively with specially trained Legatees and external providers to strengthen the wellbeing, safety and independence of children, young people and families. The role also supports newly bereaved partners of veterans and their children, as well as families where a veteran has given their health and is unable to provide adequate support during illness.

This role would suit a community services professional who is experienced in case management, confident conducting home visits and outreach across greater Sydney, and committed to strengths-based, trauma-informed practice. Some attendance at events, camps and activities on weekends, evenings and during school holidays will be required.

Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to)

- Provide case management, referral and advocacy support to beneficiaries using a holistic,



person-centred approach.
- Conduct regular home visits and assertive outreach across the greater Sydney metropolitan area, including responding to crises as required.
- Complete accurate family assessments and develop, implement and review case plans that address the health, wellbeing and safety needs of children and families.
- Support beneficiaries and carers to navigate services including financial assistance, legal services, family support programs, the Department of Veterans' Affairs and the NDIS.
- Encourage social inclusion by connecting beneficiaries with community relationships, facilities, events, outings, camps, activities and holiday opportunities.
- Assess and monitor risks associated with beneficiary visits, implement appropriate risk-minimisation strategies and complete incident or hazard documentation promptly.
- Maintain accurate, objective and timely beneficiary records, file notes, case updates and reports in the CRM.
- Assist with tertiary student interviews and allowances, educational and wellbeing grant applications, and relevant education policy development.
- Work collaboratively with the Family & Youth team, Legatees and external service providers to deliver coordinated support and positive beneficiary outcomes.
- Contribute to Legacy communications, community networks, interagency forums and presentations that promote the organisation and connect families with support.





A minimum Diploma qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Community Services or a relevant welfare field; alternatively, relevant experience and a willingness to obtain the qualification.

Strong case management skills and the ability to work using strengths-based, person-centred and trauma-informed approaches.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to maintain professional boundaries and complete accurate documentation.

Experience using online case management or CRM systems.

Strong organisational skills, sound judgement and the ability to manage competing priorities while working independently and collaboratively.

Ability to travel throughout the greater Sydney metropolitan area using your own private motor vehicle.

Ability to attend events, camps and activities on weekends, evenings and during school holidays.

Working with Children Check and National Police Check, or willingness to obtain.

Highly Regarded

Experience in the community or not-for-profit sector, including an understanding of NGOs and charitable organisations.

Experience working with volunteers, member-based organisations and confidential records or information.

Experience building effective relationships and referral networks with external service providers.

Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365, Outcomes Star and Microsoft 365 applications.

Previous experience applying a trauma-informed framework.

Current First Aid and Mental Health First Aid certificates, or willingness to obtain them.
