About the role

Pro ME Career Services is seeking an experienced Senior Rehabilitation Consultant to join our growing Melbourne-based team in a permanent part-time position, working 3–4 days per week.

This is an opportunity for an experienced rehabilitation professional who enjoys working autonomously, values high-quality client care and is looking for something different from the traditional occupational rehabilitation model.

Working predominantly within the Life Insurance Sector, you will deliver specialised, voluntary and client-led vocational rehabilitation services to individuals experiencing illness, injury or disability.

Our clients are often navigating complex health conditions, changes in work capacity and significant career transitions. Your role is to help them identify realistic vocational pathways, rebuild confidence and progress towards meaningful and sustainable employment.

What you'll be doing

Your work will include a varied mix of vocational rehabilitation and career-focused services, including:

Vocational counselling and career transition support; helping clients to identify realistic employment options aligned with their skills, strengths, employment experience and current capacity and stage of recovery

Vocational and Transferable Skills Assessments and Labour Market Analysis

Job-seeking strategy and skills development and coaching

Resume, cover letter and application development

New employer and job placement support

Work trials and graded return-to-work planning

Identification of appropriate retraining and upskilling opportunities

Pre-vocational work readiness and wellbeing programs

Developing individualised rehabilitation plans and vocational goals

Liaising with insurers, treating practitioners, employers and other relevant stakeholders

Preparing clear, professional progress updates and rehabilitation reports

Providing ongoing support to assist clients to achieve sustainable vocational outcomes

As a Senior Rehabilitation Consultant, you will manage your own caseload while also having opportunities to contribute to case discussions, mentoring,



service development and the continued growth of Pro ME's rehabilitation services.

About you

We are looking for an experienced rehabilitation professional who combines strong clinical reasoning with excellent communication and vocational expertise.

You will ideally have:

A tertiary qualification in Rehabilitation Counselling, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Psychology or another relevant allied health discipline

Current registration or membership with the relevant professional body, such as AHPRA, ASORC or AASW

A minimum of 5 years' experience in vocational or occupational rehabilitation

Direct experience working within the Life Insurance sector highly regarded (+12 months)

Strong vocational counselling and career development skills

An excellent understanding of vocational rehabilitation principles and return-to-work planning

Confidence supporting clients with complex health, psychosocial and vocational barriers

Strong written communication and report-writing skills

The ability to build effective relationships with clients, insurers, healthcare providers and employers

Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a caseload autonomously

A warm, professional and client-centred approach

A collaborative mindset and willingness to contribute to a growing team

You will also require, or be willing to obtain:

Current Police Check

Appropriate professional registration or membership

Experience using Chameleon Case Manager is advantageous but not essential.
