Volleyball Victoria Incorporated – Dandenong VIC

Bring your finance expertise and practical approach to business operations to a role supporting the growth of volleyball across Victoria.

About Volleyball Victoria

Volleyball Victoria exists to inspire more people to play, connect and thrive through volleyball. As the recognised State Sporting Organisation, we work with clubs, members, schools, volunteers and partners to create opportunities for people of all ages and abilities.

We are looking for a Finance and Operations Manager who enjoys taking ownership, improving systems and helping a small, passionate team deliver great outcomes for its community.

About the role

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and contributing as a member of the Leadership Team, you will lead Volleyball Victoria’s financial management and day-to‑day business operations.

This is a hands‑on role with opportunities to contribute to organisational planning and decision‑making. You will work closely with the CEO, Finance Director, Board, staff and external advisers to maintain strong financial governance, provide clear reporting and keep our business systems running effectively.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Managing the end‑to‑end finance function, including accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, cash flow and financial controls.
- Managing payroll, maintaining accurate records and meeting reporting and payment obligations.
- Preparing monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts and financial analysis to support informed decisions.
- Coordinating statutory reporting,

the annual external audit and financial information for grants and acquittals.
- Managing core business systems and administration across contracts, insurance, procurement, HR records and document management.
- Improving processes, policies and internal controls to strengthen efficiency and reduce risk.
- Supporting workforce administration, onboarding and operational requirements for key organisational activities.

About you

You are an experienced finance professional who is comfortable working across broader business operations. You combine accuracy and sound judgement with a collaborative approach, and can explain financial information clearly to people with different levels of financial knowledge.

You will bring:

- Demonstrated experience managing an end‑to‑end finance function, including payroll, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and management reporting.
- Strong working knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, financial governance, taxation and payroll obligations.
- Advanced skills in Xero and Microsoft Excel, and confidence working across business systems.
- Experience coordinating annual audits and preparing accurate supporting documentation.
- Experience in business operations, compliance, risk management,

policy implementation or corporate administration.
- Robust communication, organisation and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- An understanding of member‑based, community, sporting or not‑for‑profit organisations and a commitment to responsive service.
- Professionalism, discretion and the ability to handle sensitive information impartially and confidentially.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications, CPA or CA qualifications or progress towards them, and experience using Employment Hero Payroll and HRIS will be highly regarded. Experience with grants, Board reporting, insurance and contract administration would also be beneficial.
- You will need a current Working with Children Check and Victorian driver licence, and be prepared to undertake occasional evening and weekend work and regional or interstate travel.

Diversity and inclusion

Volleyball Victoria is committed to creating a diverse, inclusive and welcoming workplace where everyone is treated with respect and has the opportunity to contribute. We encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, people with disability, LGBTQIA+ people, and people of all ages and genders.
