We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Support Teachers for permanent and fixed term, full‑time and part‑time vacancies which may arise during the 2027 school year. This position is being advertised as part of a recruitment pilot designed to simplify the application process for teachers.

The School Castlereagh School is a specialist Education Support School for students K‑12 with disability and high support needs. Castlereagh’s staff motivate learning in children and young adults aged four to 18 in a vibrant, nurturing, educational environment. Whilst we foster academic skills through the Western Australian & ABLEWA Curriculums, we place great value on communication, connection, belonging, predictability and engagement. We regard every student to be an individual with their unique strengths, needs and learning preferences. Our students have diverse communication needs and seek alternative access to curricula and post school learning opportunities. Their needs are provided for with a well‑balanced educational experience with a literacy, numeracy, communications and independence focus. Communication underpins everything we do, and we take great pride in seeing every student blossom.

The Role

Our teachers provide students with rigorous, meaningful and engaging experiences which encourage every student to learn and to grow. We build high expectations for learning in teachers, parents and students. Castlereagh School teachers are encouraged to commit to high level collaboration as part of the whole school and Curriculum collaborative planning teams.



Teachers share a significant responsibility in preparing young people to lead successful and productive lives.

- Be able to exhibit their understanding of Educations Support Pedagogy and have experience teaching students with disability and high, diverse learning needs
- Be highly motivated, innovative and have high level interpersonal skills to effectively lead classroom teams and communicate with colleagues, parents, students and the school community
- Be extremely collaborative and work to improve the outcomes of all children and young adults in a team environment
- Monitor, review and report on the achievements of students by creating individualised Education Plans and learning programs.
- Maintain relevant, rigorous and valid programming, data collection and reporting systems
- Actively engage in self‑reflection to improve their practice and engage in observation and feedback practices to develop their understanding of our whole school programs and pedagogy.

Graduate, early career and experienced education support teachers are encouraged to apply. Teachers without an education support qualification but with a demonstrated interest will be supported to build their capacity and understanding of working with students with special educational needs.

Eligibility

- Hold an eligible teacher qualification and registration.
- Be an Australian or Recent Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
- Apply for a WA Working with Children Check before you start.
- Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.
